...just got back from a trip to PA (roughly 550 miles round trip) that taught me a lot of stuff about my Cube. And opened up some new questions. I learned that it's not fast. And by not fast I mean it's really slow. And revving it doesn't do anything. I was at 6 grand, foot to the floor and the speedo was barely moving. Still manages to be faster than the previous gen Prius but not by much which is kinda scary. There are a few rattles that I have to find the source of along with this buzzing sound that occurs during acceleration occasionally.
Anyone who has some knowledge of CVTs though, do the engines rev higher when cruise control is on normally? Mine was sticking to 3000RPM at 65mph, but with CC off the RPMs dropped to 20-2500 which is normal. Also on a downhill descent, I took my foot off the gas but the RPMs seemed to stick at 3 grand for a couple of seconds which normally doesn't happen. That was a one time thing though so I'm not too worried.
I did some cosmetic things like add a cheap eBay billet grille and some rain guards but after that trip, I think some lowered springs to bring down the center of gravity and some better sway bars to help cornering are what I'll be saving for next. It may not be a race car but it could use a little aftermarket help to make it a bit nicer to drive.
Anyways, anyone looking to buy a car, try to take it on a lengthy road trip if you can. Just to familiarize yourself with the car and see where it needs help.

Yep. That is the reason I passed on a Rogue a while back. it's big enough, has enough power...but the seats SUCKED! I was driving from San Diego to L.A. in one and I felt like I was sitting on folding chairs by the time I got there. If they had an upgraded seat, then I might have considered it.....

Eh not really, the Cube is a good car around town and it's still ok for the highway. The buzzing isn't the same as what Doug described and doesn't always happen, this trip was the first time I actually noticed it. Could be anything, could be nothing.

Nissan isn't too good at making comfy seats but the ones in the Cube SL seem better than the ones in the base Cube. Also better than the ones in a base model Sentra of the previous gen which I sat in for 5 seconds before becoming uncomfortable.
